Ableton Workshop for Girls '''Alpha-ville Festival'''
Published 9 November 2010 by JT

Last week I spent a day working for the Alpha-ville Festival and Ableton Novation. I was leading a workshop specifically for girls from the Osmanic centre in Hackney who wanted to learn Ableton Live and the Ableton Novation interfaces. The Whitechapel gallery and the Osmanic centre provided a lovely space work in and it was a very good creative day enjoyed by all.

Alarmed and Dangerous
Published 16 November 2010 by JT

A very busy few weeks. Thanks to all that have supported my music .

At the start of December ( 4th to be exact ! ) a old work that I wrote the tape part for is being played in the University of Toronto, Canada.
The work ' Alarmed and Dangerous was a BBC commission 1996 awarded to the composer Christopher Fox. I had the great pleasure and opportunity of working for Chris in the Studio's at Huddersfield when I was based as a research student there.
I burrowed away for about 4 weeks in then the small studio's run by Mark Bromwich. I have fond memories of their old wooden speakers,a large analogue mixing desk which created amazing feedback, fresh early mornings and the development of a passion for curry.

This is a beautiful work which combines the multi phonics of the trumpet, fragmented odes to minimalism and the raw acousmatic resulting in the unexpected and chance.

Steven Altoft is playing the trumpet in Toronto.

Good luck Steve.

If you are in the area , go have a listen it will be good.
